This week for #SixForSunday it’s all of our favourite LGBT+ characters! There are so many queer characters that I love, I’m sure I’ll miss some gems, but here’s the ones I could fit in to today’s blog post!
1. Alex Clairmont-Diaz. (Red, White, and Royal Blue)
Oh Alex, my precious chaotic bisexual FSOTUS. He’s a character who is witty, snarky, very politically minded, and… you shouldn’t annoy him unless you want to be flattened against a wall. *cough*
2. Alucard Emery (A Gathering of Shadows)
Swashbuckling, overly flamboyant pirate who also happens to have a heart of gold (once you get past all the performative hilarities). Genuinely one of the best surprises for me over the Shades of Magic series.
3. Eadaz du Zāla uq-Nāra / Ead Duryan (The Priory Of The Orange Tree)
Ead is a woman with a mission in mind. She’s careful and considered and knows just how to blend in to unfamiliar societies. She’s dedicated to what she does, and is the hero I wish teen me had seen more of in fantasy fiction. In charge of saving the world and the queen? YES PLEASE. (Also she gets a great love story but SPOILERS).
4. Nick and Charlie (Heartstopper)
As if I have to explain these precious humans to anyone. I cannot handle the level of cute and adorable that Alice Oseman blesses us with on every update. My heart!
5. Frances Janvier (Radio Silence)
Yes, more Alice Oseman characters! Because she write such great rep! Frances is a workaholic for whom school is everything until - well, it isn’t. I love the discussions that are had in Radio Silence about sexuality as well - there are some things that I would never have learned about if Alice hadn’t mentioned them in Radio Silence.
6. Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch. (Carry On)
BAZ. BAZ. BAZ. He’s just my fave. A snarky, sassy, overly proud, and very intelligent vampire who’s absolutely out to beat everyone else at - well, everything. Except he’s also absolutely PRECIOUS and has MANY FEELINGS (not that he’d ever let anyone know that, obvs). One of my favourite characters of all time.
