Let's Chat... Summer Reading Plans

What with the current situation, my usual summer reading habits have somewhat gone out of the window. So I’m thinking about what my reading is going to look like in this, the weirdest summer so far…

Usually I read light and escapist books over the summer, mixed with epics that work has meant I’ve not got to over the year so far. But… well, I read a LOT of escapist stuff earlier this year, in June in particular (my wrap-up of that month is here) and so I’m a little short of escapist reads right now. I also went on a massive book haul about the middle of lockdown, and the stacks next to my reading chair are now… concerningly high. I’ve made a good dent in my TBR with the Reading Rush and the upcoming Summer #BookHiBearNation Readathon - TBR post coming soon! - but there are still a lot of books there to get through.

Here are all the books that are currently by my chair waiting to be read (minus ones already allocated to readathons). Have you read any of these? Which ones should I get to first?

I’m keeping my eyes out for other readathons and bookish events and one I’m excited for is A-Spec August (I’ll be doing a post with a TBR very soon!). I absolutely adored Loveless by Alice Oseman, and was also lucky enough to win an insta giveaway so I now have a copy of Let’s Talk About Love by Claire Kann, but I’m really keen to find what other books are out there with ace, demi, and gray-ace rep.

Are there any other bookish events happening in the summer holidays that you want to take part in? I find readathons are so motivational for me at the moment, so I’m always keen to join in with more! I’m already so behind on the Schwab Readalong…

I’m also curious - have your reading habits changed for the summer, compared to previous years? Are there any particular titles that you want to get to soon? What are your priorities for your summer reading?
